MAFS STAR DOMENICA CALARCO: DIAGNOSED WITH PTSD AFTER LEAVING THE SHOW.
Concerns are circling the boundaries of reality tv shows as multiple contestants have been diagnosed with severe mental health disorders post featuring on reality shows. Severe anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have been linked to ex reality tv contestants. Clinical psychologist Dr Rebecca Ray has stated that "the high stress environment of reality television is fraught with potential triggers, it is crucial that we change the narrative surrounding what defines a patient of the disorder". The show has been proven to create and encourage conflicts between both the couples and friends during the show. It is obvious to any viewer that in most circumstances the "love experts" purposefully pair incompatible couples to create issues and never really give them a fair shot at success within their relationship. Evidence of this method is seen when the 2022 season couple Holly & Andrew were introduced. Holly was very vocal about her interest in settling down and having children and yet was paired with Andrew who did not want kids at all. If the show was genuine about the goals of a successful and stable relationship they would not match unsuitable couples. The motive behind the show and the intentions for the contestants are dangerous and inhumane. A direct quote from Dom follows, "I was diagnosed with complex PTSD, It was 110% caused from the show. Nothing normal about the conditions on those sets or what [they] do to you". Many reality television stars are speaking out about their mistreatment and trauma from participating in the entertaining dramas.
